All About Me
Dawn - edging ever closer to 30, although I still feel like I'm 21. :) I'm married to a youth pastor ('Big G'), and have THREE wonderful kids: a five year-old son ('Little G'), a just turned two year-old daughter ('A'), and our newest little girl blessing, Baby R, was born May 28/07!! They keep me hopping as I juggle them, my WAH part-time job as an accountant, being a pastor's wife, and of course hobbies like quilting, scrapbooking, and blogging!

I'm calling on all the collective wisdom of the blogging world today to help us solve a dilemma - where will all our children sleep when this new baby arrives (very soon!)?

We have three bedrooms upstairs - right now obviously one is ours, A is in the baby room in her crib, and Little G has his own room. The original 'plan' was to put Little G and A into Little G's room in bunk beds, where they would stay for a few years until the two girls are big enough to share a room, and then Little G would probably move downstairs. When A was born, we moved Little G into his new room a few months before she was born so there would be no feeling like the baby was kicking him out of 'his' room.

But as the reality is getting closer I am realizing that there is no way I want to put A in a bed right now - yes, I know kids can surprise you (as my darling husband keeps pointing out) but she is not even two years old yet, and with her personality I absolutely cannot imagine she would stay in a bed. She naturally wakes up quite a bit earlier than Little G does, and right now she very happily stays in her crib and sings and plays, for as long as 45 minutes. My thought is that those 45 minutes could be almost as much sleep as I may have gotten all night with a newborn, and those precious minutes are going to be of the utmost importance to me!

We can't really put her in Little G's room in her crib as our bedrooms are tiny (it technically would fit but would be very tight and result in hardly any floor space), plus she would still wake him up when she woke up, so I'd still end up having to get up then.

The big thing is that we feel like we need to have the 'new' arrangements set before baby arrives to avoid the jealousy thing - I made a big deal out of that when A was born, so Big G is trying to just go with what I've said before and get everything done before baby comes. We do keep new babies in our room for the most part for the first three months or so, so we could leave A in her room for now and deal with it in the fall - but if she has a big issue with the baby taking her room I feel like I'm going to get the 'I told you so.'

What do you all think? At her age when she basically just sleeps in her room (her toys are out in the main room) is she liable to feel 'kicked out' of her room if we wait a few months? We do have an offer to borrow a second crib and I could put it in one of the rooms downstairs for her, since she doesn't really need a room for anything other than sleeping. Just another option to complicate things!

HELP!! We only have three weeks left and are no closer to figuring this out than we were three months ago, lol!

Birthday boy!

It's hard to believe our little boy is already five years old! I'm feeling like I'm not old enough to have a five year-old child - somehow having babies and preschoolers I still felt young, but five years old somehow makes me old! We had his party on Sunday after church since Wednesdays are very busy for us here (youth group night), but I made cupcakes and went and helped in his class at school this morning for his birthday.

We're so proud of our five year-old! He's working really hard at school and loves to play with his friends there. He's practicing riding his bike (still with training wheels) so he can ride his bike to school one day. He reads practically everything he can find and loves to draw and color and make crafts. We're watching his knowledge and understanding of God increase every day and feel so privileged to guide him as he tries to figure all these things out for himself. We love you, (not-so) little boy!

I just have to add a picture of his cake (firetruck at his request) that I decorated for him, since my carpal tunnel is still acting up from it, lol!
